The West Cumbria Quiz League is set to resume on Thursday, October 7 after an 18-month absence.

A meeting to discuss a restart went favourably, although some teams have declined the opportunity and others are having to look for new venues.

The 2021/22 Winter League will comprise two Divisions – Maryport/Aspatria/Allonby teams and Cockermouth/Workington/Whitehaven teams.

There will be no post-match refreshments for the competition and this decision will be reviewed ahead of the annual Summer League.

A number of venues have changed – Lifeboat 1 (formerly Golden Lion) are now playing at the Lifeboat, Maryport as are Lifeboat  2 (formerly Waverley).

The Boarders are playing at The Bush, Cockermouth as well as The Bush (formerly Castle Bar) but the Conscripts are currently without a venue following closure of Cockermouth Conservative Club.

Market Cross are also currently without a venue while the Punch Bowl can only accommodate teams with a maximum number of eight people.

The nine teams contesting the Maryport/Aspatria/Allonby Division are: Fleming Squares, Fleming Place Club, Lifeboat 1, Lifeboat 2, Oxymorons, The Mutineers, Dynamo Kev, The Ship, Shipmates.

The 10 sides in the Cockermouth/Workington/Whitehaven Division are: The Bush, Boarders, Punch Bowl, The Hall Park, Golfuzz, The Briery, The Boating Club, Market Cross, Whitehaven Wonderers, Ex- Cons (formerly Conscripts, now playing at Cockermouth Golf Club).

Question setters for October 7 are the Boating Club and for October 14 are the Boarders
