Organisers behind the latest comedy festival to hit Cumbria said the event promises to be one to put in the diary.
Kendal Fringe takes place between September 24 and September 26.
Musician, cabaret artist, and highly acclaimed comedienne, Laurie Black, stand-up comedian, Alun Cochrane, and Canadian surrealist and master storyteller, Tony Law are just some of the names already performing at the festival.
A classically trained pianist, Laurie Black is a regular on the global Fringe circuit with her shows Bad Luck Cabaret (2016), and award-winning solo show Laurie Black: Space Cadette (2019), featured on BBC2’s Edinburgh Nights and will be making her Kendal debut at this festival.
Stand-up comedian Alun Cochrane has appeared on numerous TV shows including Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Russell Howard’s Good News, Dave’s One-Night Stand, and Have I Got News For You.
One of the event’s organisers, Thomas Smith, said: “We are starting out small and planting a seed which we hope will grow year on year. We have teamed up with Bowness Bay Brewery and will be taking over their yard and brand-new venue, aptly named, ‘The Venue’.
“We will be putting on a host of live music throughout the weekend, which will be free to attend and curated by the very talented local promoter, Dingo Barracks. The Venue itself will be turned into a ticketed comedy club throughout the evenings.
Thomas owns event company The Innova Collective, which regularly promotes events across the North West.
He added: “After two successful events already this summer; EskFest and FYA in Lancaster, it was about time we made our mark on Kendal and brought another high-quality event which we aim to grow year on year.
“Bringing the very best of comedy to you here in Kendal, we have brought on board our very talented neighbour from Ulverston, Planet Mirth, a brilliant programmer who has attracted dozens of top tier acts to the area over the years.
“We are sure guests will have a great weekend and we are looking forward to it ourselves!”
