Barrock Court

A staffing crisis has forced a Cumbrian care home to close.

Barrock Court Care Home, in Low Heskett, is operated by Advinia. It said attempts to recruit staff had failed so it had no choice but to close the home’s doors.

A spokesman said: “We regret to announce that we have begun the process of consultation to close Barrock Court Care Home, in Low Hesket, Carlisle.

“Like many care providers, the home has been hit hard by the lack of availability of qualified care staff in recent months, and it has sadly become impossible to keep the 28-bedroom care home open.

“Repeated efforts were made by the company to retain and recruit staff, by way of generous incentives and pay rises, but regrettably this has been to no avail.

“We are now working with our partners in the local authority to ensure a smooth transition for our existing residents.

“We appreciate that this will be a difficult time for some residents, and we will do all we can to support them.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the community in Low Hesket who have befriended the home over the years, your support has been very much appreciated.”
