Police in Wigton stopped 65 vehicles in a night of action.
Last night officers conducted an operation in and around Wigton targeting rural crime and antisocial driving.
Police started the evening with a roadblock to target ongoing issues with antisocial driving within the town. Officers then moved around the rural areas of Wigton, Aspatria and Silloth targeting back lanes, farm tracks and other areas.
Throughout the evening officers stopped 65 vehicles, two were uplifted under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. Three stop searches were also conducted.
Five warnings were issued to drivers for issues around their lights and two traffic offence were issued for no insurance.
Sergeant Scott Adams said: “Operations such as this are vital in not only disrupting criminals who travel across county borders but in gaining intelligence by engaging with rural communities.
“Targeting rural crime and keeping people safe are priorities for the neighbourhood policing teams in Cumbria.
“Please report any suspicious activity or vehicles to the police. Your call may stop another from being victim of a crime.
