The Cumberland Senior Cup took precedence this weekend with three ties pitching County League clubs together.
There was an all-Premier League clash with Workington Athletic progressing to the next round with a 3-1 win at home to Wigton Harriers.
Ryan Connelly, Kevin Holliday and Tommy Whitehead with the goals for Athletic. Wigton’s reply came from Stuart Carruthers.
Two games featured Premier Division clubs entertaining Division One sides and in the first Gosforth put their recent player availability issue behind them defeating Division 1 front-runners Whitehaven Miners by the odd goal in five.
Goals from Sam Tallentire, Jack Denwood and Andrew Bulman ensured Gosforth went into the hat for the next round. Goals from Lewis Park and Oliver Todd kept the result in doubt until the end.
Northbank took the honours in the Carlisle derby with a slim 1-0 win over UniSun. An Elliott Travers strike was the difference between the two teams.
Mirehouse were unable to make home advantage count going down 2-0 to Wearside League Windscale. Scorers for the Atoms were Matt Sempill and a volley from the edge of the box by Reece Fretwell.
There were four ties between County League and Westmorland League sides with varying outcomes for the Leagues involved.
Pirelli travelled to meet Braithwaite inflicting a heavy 11-1 defeat on their hosts. There was a hat trick for Jordan Pritchard-Farish; doubles for Alex Bell, Kieron Blair and Jordan Atkinson, with Dean Reay and James Earl completing the total.
Cockermouth entertained AFC Carlisle in another five-goal contest. Cockermouth edged the tie 3-2 with a Brett Smith effort and a double from Rob Cox.
Aspatria were visitors to Greystoke and returned home with a satisfactory 5-0 win. The goals were shared between Richard Hudson, Andrew Trestianu, Dan Pearson, Logan Dixon and Mike Thomlinson.
Silloth were unable to stem the flow of goals from hosts Wetheriggs losing out 10-2. Tommy Dixon got Silloth on the score-sheet with a brace.
Carlisle City go through without breaking sweat as scheduled opponents Alston pulled out while two ties will take place on Wednesday night.
Workington Reds will host Whitehaven Amateurs and Cleator Moor Celtic entertain Penrith in the tie of the round.
