Hensingham became the first side to lower the colours of all-conquering Dalton in the Cumbria Conference.
The two sides squared up at Hensingham and the home side emerged 44-12 winners, the first time Dalton had tasted defeat.
On scores there was a certain symmetry to the scoring as it was 22-6 in each half to a Hensingham side pleased to exact some revenge for a convincing home win by Dalton.
Miller Dalton had given Hensingham the lead with a try which was converted by Dylan Bragg, then first of six successful kicks.
The visitors got back level with a Ben Ashburner try, converted by Pat Kelly but it was Hensingham who scored the rest of the first-half points.
Dalton wen over for his second try but this time it was not converted but the score was improved before the break with two tries from Noel Branthwaite, which were converted by Bragg.
Dalton were out of the traps quickly in the second-half and thought they might get back into when prop Ewan Costa crashed over and Kelly added the extras.
But Hensingham regained control and went on to add tries by Dalton (2), man of the match Nate Frankland and Cohen Massey, three of them converted by Bragg.
Paul Armstrong, the Dalton coach said: “Hensingham were the better team on the day. We competed ok in stages but ultimately we struggled to stay in the grind.
“We started the second half strongly with a converted try but we faded and Hensingham ran out deserved winners.
“We will take the positives from the game with 16-year-old half back Elliot Wilkinson making his first team debut in the second-half.
“There was a man of the match 80-minute performance from prop Jordan Jones and another re-arranged fixture chalked-off.”

There was only one other game played in the Cumbria Conference and it provided Maryport with a 38-16 win over visitors Ulverston.
That actually represented a great effort by Ulverston who had travelled with the bare 13 and at half-time had restricted Maryport to a 14-6 lead.
Ulverston coach Marc Storey said: “I was very proud of the performance. On Friday we had 11 players but we managed to get thirteen to travel and 1 to 13 gave it their all.
“We actually came out of the blocks well and led 6-0 with a try by Josh Rankin converted by Alex Grimshaw.
“We lost Ben Parkinson with a dislocated shoulder 20 minutes in and he still managed to carry on until the start of the second half.
“He just couldn’t carry on anymore and soon afterwards we lost another player so were down to 11
“We managed to frustrate Maryport at times, just sticking to the grind but full credit to Maryport as they were great on and off the field.
“Although we didn’t get the win, the effort the lads put in it felt like a win, competing at all times with, for a spell, just 11 players.
“We had two tries ruled-out which, on another day might have been given and that would have made the score even closer.
“The young lads really stood up being only 17-years-of age – Robert Pike, Finn Hood and Alex Grimshaw. They are going to be the mainstays of the team in the years to come.”
Rankin added another try and Pike also crossed with Grimshaw tacking on a second conversion.
The Maryport tries came from Keenan Winter (2), Tyler Chilton, Kieran Featherstone, Ethan Williams, Luke Baker and Alex Woodhall. Sean Mumberson kicked three goals and Danny Dryden converted two.
