Two more successful Carlisle City Council prosecutions have resulted in court action.

The following cases have been held at Carlisle’s magistrates’ court:

  • For failing to attend an interview under caution has seen a Carlisle man fined £660, with £374.16 costs and a £66 victim surcharge (total £1100.16). As part of the council’s investigation into a fly-tipping incident at Beaumont, Carlisle the man was served a notice to attend an interview to assist officers with their investigation. The man failed to do so and was found guilty of the offence by the court.
  • A man from Carlisle who failed to get his dog microchipped despite reminder letters being sent, was found guilty of the offence by the court and was fined £440, with costs of £251.44 costs and surcharge of £44 (total £735.44).

Cllr Nigel Christian, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “The court prosecutions serve as a reminder that Carlisle City Council will take action against those that fail to pay their fines, litter and fly-tip.

“We all want to keep Carlisle clean and live within a safe environment. To report an enviro-crime, including littering and fly-tipping email [email protected].”
