Carlisle Cycling Association will be starting coached training sessions at the Carlisle Cycle Circuit in Harraby next Tuesday night.
The Circuit is a purpose-built 1km traffic free facility and is floodlit so that riding can continue through the winter in all but the worst of weathers.
CCA is a collaborative of cycling clubs from across North and West Cumbria and British Cycling qualified coaches from a number of the clubs are coming together to offer training for both adults and youngsters.
The youth session starts at 6pm and is aimed at young riders from the ages of 10 to 16, though experienced nine-year-olds may be considered, with recommendation from their club coach.
The adult session for riders over 16 runs from 7.30 to 9pm. Women of any age, and older teenagers have the option of attending either or both sessions, depending on their individual needs.
Tuesday night sessions are aimed at regular cyclists, with a focus on fitness, group riding and race skills, though it isn’t necessary to have race experience to enjoy and benefit from them.
Anyone who is unsure whether these sessions are right for them should contact the Association for advice.
If they or their child are new to cycling and not yet quite ready for this type of riding the Association will happily signpost them to more suitable activities in the area.
