Carlisle United manager Rob Elliot has been reunited with two of his former Gateshead defenders after they signed for the Blues.
Brad Nicholson, 27, has signed a two-year deal with a one year option while Kenton Richardson, also 27, has agreed a one-year deal at Brunton Park, with the club holding an option for a further year.
The 6ft 2in Nicholson is a left-footed centre-back who can also operate at left-back, and is also well known for his long throw expertise.
Nicholson has played most of his football in non-league after starting at Handsworth in 2017/2018 before moving to Chesterfield.
Since then he has served Guiseley, Boston Utd, Scunthorpe, Solihull and Gateshead.
Richardson also started his career in 2017, but with Hartlepool United (43 games) and had two years at Sunderland without breaking into the first team.
He had 27 games at Spennymoor on loan in National North before joing Gateshead and 2022 and going on to play over 100 games for them.
Head coach Elliot said: “Brad is a winner. He wants to win, he will give everything for the team, and he will give everything for the players around him.
“Kenton is an unbelievable person, a fantastic captain, and someone who sets standards every day in the way he conducts himself.”
