Josh Gordon has won the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month award for September.
Already Barrow’s own Goal of the Month award winner he beat Port Vale’s David Worrall and Salford City’s Matty Lund to scoop the Sky Bet League Two prize as well.
It was a special strike too, winning the League Two home game against Newport County and picking up 54 per cent of the public vote on social media.
Gordon had collected the ball in midfield, before turning quickly to run at the Newport defence before hammering a sweetly delivered shot into the far top corner.
He said: “It’s a pleasure to be presented with this Goal of the Month award.
“It makes it even more special because of the importance of the goal at the time for me and the lads to get the three points.
“I’m not sure how many more I will score like that, but I hope to continue to chip in with the goals and help the team with the rest of my game.
“We’ve got a great group here who have started well but we’ve definitely got a lot more to give which is exciting and I’m looking forward to see what we can do, taking it game by game.”
Gordon will go head-to-head with one of the men he beat for the award as Worrall is expected to be in the Port Vale line-up for tomorrow’s clash with the Bluebirds.
