Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon is thinking of rotating his squad with the prospect of back-to-back away games in the next four days.
They visit Carlisle United tomorrow and then on Tuesday are on the road again to high-flying Harrogate Town.
With the two games coming up in quick succession, Mellon says he may look to the depth of his squad to help the team collect a first away win of the season.
He told the club website: “If we believe we can keep the performances of the team moving forward, and add energy to the group the science will tell you that the intensity can’t carry on in such a short period of time.
“But rotation is something that could come in to help us to get a result. You’ve got to be able to trust your squad. That’s what they’re here to do, they’re here to play.
“There’s no doubt you’d rather play games than just train. When you believe you’re doing well, you want to play games, we’re looking forward to a good, tough week.
“We’re just concentrating on Carlisle on Saturday. There’s a little bit of organisation because of the quick turnaround, we won’t have as much time to work on things. But our full focus is on Carlisle.”
The manager says it isn’t a cause for concern that the team hasn’t won away, but hopes the away form will yield some positive results soon.
He said: “You want to try and win every game you’re playing in, and of course we want to try and pick up some points away from home. It’s really important.
“But the main thing is what your point tally is. If that’s competitive at the right end of the league, you’ve got to be happy with that. But if we can pick up some away points to add to the home form, that would be a big positive.”
Following the departure of Chris Beech at the weekend Mellon says that makes the fixture difficult to manage.
“The manager is gone, and his plan is no longer there. It’s difficult because a new manager might come in, or there might be a change, they might even keep doing what they were doing before.
“It’s difficult to predict any consistency in what they’re going to do now the manager has gone,” said Mellon.
