Blue Bell avoided a potential banana skin in the first round of the President’s Cup at Highfield.

The Premier Division side came through unscathed against their First Division opponents, winning 4-1.

Blue Bell had won only once in four Premier Division games but just had too much for a spirited Highfield side who have the same win ratio in Division One.

Goals from Grant Quayle, Kie Mewse, Carl Denver and Ben Powell gave Blue Bell their win with Teddy Kemp netting for the hosts.

But there was an inter-Divisional shock in store for Salterbeck, fresh from their Premier Division win last week over Sun Inn, as they crashed out of the Cup to Division One Senhouse.

Terry Wharrier (3), Chris Taylor and Scott Underwood scored for Senhouse but unfortunately no Salterbeck scorers were marked on the sheet.

In a third Premier Division v Division One clash, Dearham just managed to pip their lower-level visitors Flimby Social 2-1 with both goals from Jack Dunstan. The Flimby goal came from Max Litt.

In an all-Premier Division clash Northside swept to a clear-cut 7-0 win over Glasson Gardeners as in-form Tommy Whitehead hit another hat-trick. Callum Killick, Jamie Bramley and Chad Grisedale scored the other goals.

Jay Weatherill has been notching some spectacular goals for Cleator Moor Celtic in the North West Counties League and he notched a couple for Seaton Rangers in their 4-0 win at the Junction.

The tightest first round tie was at Aspatria where Sun Inn Athletic and Maryport Athletic finished all square, 2-2 after 90minutes and extra time. It was the Sun who came out on top 4-3 after the penalty shoot-out.

Daniel Dobson and Brad Williamson scored for Sun to take it to penalties with Lewis Mattinson and Joe Hetherington notching for Maryport.
