Nine flood warnings and 15 flood alerts for Cumbria

Rain has continued to fall overnight and although major flooding appears to have been averted, flood alerts and warnings still remain in place.

The Met Office has dropped its amber weather warning to yellow, which means heavy rain and disruption to transport and travel is expected.

Last night, the county had 12 flood warnings and 16 alerts in place, but this morning that has dropped to nine warnings and 15 alerts in the following areas:

The following areas have a flood warning – which means flooding is expected and to act now – in force:

  • Keswick Campsite – updated 8.56pm yesterday
  • River Cocker at Southwaite Bridge – updated at 8:56pm yesterday
  • River Derwent at Workington, Seaton Mill and Barepot – updated at 9:03pm yesterday
  • River Ehen at Egremont, Bleach Green, Ennerdale Mill, Bridge End, Vale View, Wood Bank, Rugby Club – updated at 9:03pm yesterday
  • River Greta at Keswick, Keswick Campsite, Rugby Club and Quinta – updated at 9.09pm yesterday
  • River Leven at Newby Bridge and Backbarrow – updated at 9.09pm yesterdayRivers Cocker and Derwent at Cockermouth, Cricket Ground and Trout Hotel Car Park – updated at 9.13pm yesterdayUllswater and
  • River Eamont at Pooley Bridge, Ullswater Steamer Pier to B5320 Bridge – updated at 5.29pm yesterday
  • Windermere (Lake Levels) updated at 9.16pm yesterday

Flood alerts – which means be prepared – are in force in the following areas:

  • Lower River Eden – updated at 7.59m yesterday
  • Rivers Cocker, Marron and Derwent – updated at 8.23pm yesterday
  • Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck – updated at 8.27pm yesterday
  • Rivers Ehen, Calder, Irt and Esk – updated at 8.23pm yesterday
  • Rivers Esk and Irthing – updated at 8.05pm yesterday
  • Rivers Greta, St Johns Beck and Bassenthwaite Lake – updated at 8.23pm yesterday
  • Rivers Kent and Bela – updated at 8.06pm yesterday
  • Rivers Lowther and Eamont – updated at 8.11pm yesterday
  • Rivers Wampool and Ellen -updated at 8.11pm yesterday
