A Carlisle man has told a court that he “didn’t like a neighbour’s CCTV cameras watching him” as he pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
David Wiseman, 35, of Margaret Creighton Gardens, pleaded guilty to a charge of causing criminal damage to a neighbour’s CCTV cameras.
The court heard on the night of July 27, the neighbour’s husband shouted to get the police as someone was taking a camera from the house wall.
When officers arrived they were told Wiseman was the culprit. Wiseman told officers he didn’t like the cameras watching him while he was sitting on the grass.
He went on to say he only turned the cameras down towards the grass so they wouldn’t be watching him. Two of the three cameras were damaged, to the value of £35 each.
Carlisle’s magistrates’ court fined him £40, ordered him to pay prosecuting costs of £85, a victim surcharge of £34 and compensation of £70.
