Hospice at Home West Cumbria has moved its head office as part of a plan to offer a more flexible approach to working for its staff.
For the last 10 years the charity’s head office has been based at Cumbria House on Oxford Street in Workington.
However, since government guidance was introduced in 2020 advising people to work from home where possible, the charity said its staff adapted to a ‘blended’ approach of office-based and remote working.
The large rented offices at Cumbria House are no longer necessary with the new way of working, and the charity has made the decision to relocate the marketing and income generation, business support and finance teams to its therapy and information centre on Finkle Street.
Julie Monk, CEO for Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said: “Our reason for moving to facilitate a more streamlined way of working has also enabled us to save annual costs on rent and other office overheads.
“We hope members of the public will pop in to see us and learn more about what we do, and share their stories of Hospice at Home West Cumbria.”
The Finkle Street centre was bought by the charity in 2013 and houses the lymphoedema, complementary therapy and family and bereavement support teams.
It used to house the charity’s shop, but that was moved to Pow Street.
Its home nursing team is based in Workington Community Hospital.
Funding from The Gannet Foundation allowed refurbishment.
Julie added: ‘We have had tremendous support and we would like to thank all of our staff, volunteers and local business that helped to facilitate our move.”
