Warren Beattie has stepped down as manager of Kendal Town after just a few weeks in charge.
A serious illness within the family has seen Beattie, a former Kendal player, relinquish the role.
Dave Woodruff, who came in with Beattie as his number two will take interim charge alongside a former Kendal manager Dave Foster who has been assisting at training.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “It is a set-back for the club but family always has to come first and our thoughts and prayers are with Warren at this difficult time.
“He has done a very good job in such a short space of time, and was honest enough to tell me that because of his family circumstances he couldn’t devote the time that was needed to the club.
“We are fortunate that he brought in a good assistant in Dave Woodruff and Dave Foster knows the club well, and has been helping the management pair with training. He has only missed the one game.”
Beattie’s first game in charge was a tough home clash with leaders Marine on November 16 when he had not had the chance to work with the players and they gave a good account of themselves in a 2-0 defeat.
That was followed by a vital 2-1 win over Market Drayton in a basement battle, along with a hard-earned 0-0 draw at City of Liverpool.
A 3-1 defeat on the artificial pitch at Widnes followed but then Beattie was unable to attend a 4-2 home defeat by Bootle and Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Glossop.
Chairman O’Neill said: “We were a lot better in the second-half at Glossop but the damage had been done. We can’t give two goals start to the majority of teams in our League.”
Kendal are back in action on Monday, December 27 when they entertain Workington in the festive Cumbrian derby.
