The planned young bird race this weekend for West Cumbrian fanciers has been cancelled.
Originally the vice-presidents decided that racing would be put back to Sunday because of the poor weather forecast for Saturday.
But an announcement this afternoon from the Derwent Valley Federation said: “The race controller and vice presidents have voted in the best interests of the young birds to cancel racing this weekend.
“There will be an emergency club delegates meeting on Tuesday in the Union Jack Club at 7pm to decide the future young bird programme.”
Because a good number of fanciers missed the opening race last weekend from Garstang it had been agreed to race again from Garstang this Sunday.
The programme should have increased mileage by moving on to Charnock Richard so where they resume from next week-end will be the main topic – and how the following race-points line up.
