A West Cumbrian man is due to be sentenced next month for supplying cannabis to others as he sought to fund his own use of the drug.
James Scowcroft, 27, faced two charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning.
Scowcroft pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis between August 6 and October 30 of 2019.
He also admitted possessing the class B controlled drug with intent to supply it on 30th October of that year.
The defendant’s admissions were said to be on a formal basis deemed acceptable to the Crown Prosecution Service which brought the case against him.
This stated that he had supplied cannabis to a known group of friends or acquaintances to fund his own cannabis use.
The court heard his offending pre-dated the imposition of a separate suspended sentence; that he had been progressing well with the requirements of that punishment; that he was no longer using cannabis; and had been offered employment.
Scowcroft, of Barfs Road, Distington, was granted unconditional bail and is due to be sentenced by a judge at the crown court on February 1.
