
Silent soldiers, erected to commemorate World War One, have been attacked by vandals in Maryport, causing £1,000-worth of damage.
The black silhouettes, made of metal, were smashed in Memorial Gardens, Netherhall Road, between 11am on Christmas Eve and 9am on New Year’s Eve.
Police are investigating and have appealed for anyone who have may have seen the damage to memorials carried out to come forward.
