Barrow have made their first signing in the January transfer window with a loan recruitment.
Will Harris, a 6ft 2ins, 21-year-old centre forward with Sunderland will link up with the Bluebirds for the rest of the season
He has undergone a medical and will almost certainly go straight into the side for tomorrow’s Emirates FA Cup tie at Barnsley.
Harris enjoyed an explosive start to the Black Cats’ under-23s campaign when he fired an impressive nine goals in their first eight league games to catch the eye of boss Lee Johnson.
His prolific form was rewarded with a senior league debut for Sunderland against Gillingham in October and the 21-year-old has also featured in their wins at Cambridge United in November and at Doncaster Rovers just after Christmas.
Bluebirds boss Mark Cooper has long been an admirer of the former Burnley academy youngster and has handed him squad number 17 ahead of his anticipated debut at Oakwell.
Cooper told the club website: “I’ve been chasing him for a while. He’s a number 9 who can run, get hold of it and he can score so he’s been in and around the first team at Sunderland on the bench and he’s come on a few times.
“I want the players we bring in to be hungry. I didn’t want someone on a final payday, I want young and hungry players with a pedigree to play up front and who can help us.
“What really impressed me about Will was that he was desperate to come and play. He could have stayed and sat on the bench for Sunderland, but he wanted to come and be a part of our first-team environment, be one of the starters and play games.
“We managed to get the deal done to bring him to the club and we’re really pleased about it.”
