Gary McKee is on his eighth day of his mammoth challenge to run 365 marathons in 2022 – and was joined by young footballers from Cleator Moor Celtic.
Cumbria Crack photographer Elwyn Evans went along and got a picture of Cleator Moor Celtic’s under-12s girls squad, who ran with Gary.
Gary, of Cleator Moor, is aiming to raise £1 million for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Earlier this year he raised over £200,000 for the charities by running 100 consecutive marathons.
Gary has already raised more than £30,000 for his latest challenge.
“We have all got a cancer story, directly or indirectly,” said Gary, setting out why supporting Macmillan is important to him.
“COVID has masked the problem and it is going to be worse going forward than it has ever been.
“We don’t know what the future holds and we could have more announcements about cancelled fundraising events.”
He added that Hospice at Home West Cumbria was an important charity as it provided care to local people and gave them support in the community.
