A Cumbrian charity is looking for incredible images of the county as it launches a competition.

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit photos to Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice’s Our Cumbria competition.

The charity, which supports children and adults from across Cumbria, wants to depict the very best the county has to offer in its Christmas 2022 products and is calling on the help of local photographers to provide stunning imagery.

The best of the images submitted will be selected by a judging panel and used on products including calendars and Christmas cards with the sales bringing in vital income for the charity, helping it to continue offering its expert care.

Traditionally, the photos used in the charity’s calendar and on cards are of landscape scenery across Cumbria, and while people will be encouraged to send in scenes like this, the charity is also keen to see a range of imagery and the individual user’s interpretation of what makes Cumbria beautiful.

The competition officially launches today and will close on Friday, February 25 with winners announced soon after.

The only criteria for submission is that the photo taken must have been taken in Cumbria within the last two years. Each entrant can submit a maximum of six photos.

Jonny Irving, marketing and engagement manager for the charity, said: “Cumbria is home to many a great scene, from stunning mountains and breath-taking lakes to the unspoilt coast and vibrancy of our city, towns and villages.

“Here at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw we know how incredible our county is and we want to share that with our supporters through our fundraising products, so we’d encourage anyone who’s got a great image or series of images of Cumbria to enter.

“By sending in a photo as part of the Our Cumbria competition, entrants will be a playing an important role in helping us raise the more than £3 million we need each year to continue providing care to people with life-limiting illnesses from Cumbria.”
