A second church has opened its doors to the public to offer support following a stabbing at Walney School.
St Mary the Virgin’s Church will be open until 4pm today for prayer and quiet reflection.
It will offer a place for someone to pray, talk to someone or just be still in the midst of shock and unrest.
A 15-year-old boy was airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital with serious injures after suffering multiple stab wounds on his body.
The boy is in a stable condition in hospital with injuries not currently believed to be life-threatening.
A 16-year-old boy was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.
Police were called by the North West Ambulance Service at around 10.10am yesterday, reporting that a pupil had suffered stab injuries following an attack inside the school.
A 16-year-old boy was detained at around 10.40am close to Barrow train station.
