Police investigating a stabbing involving two students at Walney School have released an update.
A 15-year-old boy was airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital with serious injures after suffering multiple stab wounds on his body.
Officers have now confirmed that the boy is in a stable condition in hospital with injuries not currently believed to be life-threatening.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.
Police were called by the North West Ambulance Service at around 10.10am, reporting that a pupil had suffered stab injuries following an attack inside the school.
A 16-year-old boy was detained at around 10.40am close to Barrow train station.
Police are in attendance at the school and can reassure the public and parents that there is no perceived wider threat.
