Workington Reds boss Chris Willcock has welcomed the addition of Carlisle youngster Josh Dixon to his squad.
Dixon, 20, has joined the NPL West leaders on loan for a month and has trained twice this week with the group.
Willcock said: “He clearly has quality from what I’ve seen already in training and Carlisle clearly think a lot about him.
“We felt he could be useful to us over the next month and he will certainly get some game time.
“Ruddy (Stephen Rudd) has known him since he was nine and rates him as a good footballer who is technically very sound. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Dixon has twice suffered bad knee injuries yet Carlisle have followed up with contracts for him, which indicates the potential the Blues think he has.
He will join the Reds squad at the week-end for the NPL West game at Runcorn Linnets, which has a special look about it.
Reds have only lost twice this season and one of them was a 4-2 home defeat by the Linnets, who drew 1-1 at Colne on Tuesday night.
As well as looking forward to seeing Dixon in action, Willcock had also a word of encouragement on another recent arrival Scott Fenwick.
“He has fitted in really well and has been a positive influence. I know he is desperate to play but he also knows he has to build up his fitness.
“He’s had very little football since leaving Forfar last season although he had been training with Spennymoor.
“He was looking sharper in the 20-odd minutes he got on Saturday and he was gutted he didn’t open his account when he shot just wide.
“I am sure he’s going to play a part within the team before the end of the season.
“Members of his family watch us home and away, which I always like. We did our homework before signing him and knew he would be the right type to fit in with the lads we have,” he said.
