Man stabbed in mouth in Carlisle incident

A man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in the mouth in Carlisle.

Rick Murphy, 25, of Raven Nook, Carlisle, has appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court charged with GBH and possession of an offensive weapon.

Police were called at around 10.45am on Monday to the Court Square area of Botchergate following reports that a man had suffered a serious facial injury

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital and was given stitches. He has since been released.

Murphy appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on March 22. 

Police said they were keen to hear from anyone who witnesses what happened, or the moments immediately before and after.
