Playparks in a Carlisle community are set to be revamped and people are urged to get involved and find out more.

Gareth Ellis, who represents Belah, said he had been able to get funding for playparks across the area and wants people to tell him what types of equipment should be in them and what events should be organised for the area.

He has organised an event on March 6 at the Belah Centre on Briar Bank between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

Also attending will be Carlisle MP John Stevenson.

Mr Ellis said: “Come down and have your say on what types of play equipment you want in those parks. Come down and have a say about what kind of events you want to see in Belah. Come down and see what types of community grants are available.

“This is your day, residents of Belah, whether you live in St Anns, Lowry Hill, Newfield, Kingstown or Etterby Park. Come and shape the future of your area.

“We want to have a fantastic platinum jubilee celebration in Belah, come and sign up to be a volunteer and help organise a street party in your area.

“This is your opportunity, lets do more things like the Belah Bounce Back last summer with rides, live music and food, lets have new play equipment, let’s find out where the worst places are in the ward for litter and dog fouling and lets tackle it together.”

Mr Stevenson said: “I’m delighted to be involved, Belah is a fantastic place with a great sense of community with a really positive future. I’m looking forward to speaking to local residents and seeing what ideas they have to shape the area.”
