43 Cumbria areas with coronavirus infection rate above national average

More than 40 Cumbria areas now have a coronavirus infection rate above the national average.

The county’s infection rate now stands at around 1,000 cases per 100,000 people, significantly above the England average of 780 cases per 100,000.

Below are the 43 areas with coronavirus infection rates above the national average. The number of weekly cases is accompanied by the rate per 100,000 in brackets:

  1. Burton-in-Kendal, Levens & Natland – 119 (1,630.6 per 100,000)
  2. Kendal South – 124 (1,409.9 per 100,000)
  3. Arnside, Milnthorpe & Holme – 104 (1,305.2 per 100,000)
  4. Longsowerby & Caldewgate – 93 (1,292.4 per 100,000)
  5. Kendal East & Whinfell – 101 (1,276.1 per 100,000)
  6. Kingmoor, Houghton & Whiteclosegate – 132 (1,265.8 per 100,000)
  7. Thornhill, Gosforth & Seascale – 108 (1,252.5 per 100,000)
  8. Hawcoat & Furness Abbey – 93 (1,237.9 per 100,000)
  9. Roose – 95 (1,236.8 per 100,000)
  10. Abbotsmead & Salthouse – 84 (1,137.7 per 100,000)
  11. Whitehaven Harbour & Corkickle – 60 (1,137 per 100,000)
  12. Central Carlisle – 92 (1,136.9 per 100,000)
