An air ambulance has been called to a serious crash on the A591.

The road is blocked in both directions after a collision at the Wythburn/Steel End junction.

The crash is affecting traffic between Thirlmere and Ambleside.

Stagecoach say the road is likely to be closed for several hours.

There has been a serious RTC on the A591 at Thirlmere, police have said the road is likely to be closed for several hours. 555 services will terminate at Grasmere, services between Grasmere and Keswick in both directions will not operate until the road reopens. #lakesconnection
