The JJ’s Workington Pool B league saw the top teams stumble in the race to confirm promotion.

With a chance to go top of the league, Grapes A visited Miners and found themselves 2-1 up thanks to Brian Audley’s third frame win.

The tide turned as the Miners claimed the next three and when Paul Skipsy claimed his second frame win of the evening he gave the Miners a 6-3 victory.

With the Grapes beaten Packhorse B had the chance to secure the B league title but Skinny Jimny’s delayed their promotion celebrations thanks to a ninth frame decider which Skinny’s took for a 5-4 victory.

The Lifeboat teams faced off in the club derby and the match was tied at 3-3 after the singles.

The A team stepped-up their games in the doubles which saw Paul Bell and Paul Holiday seal the eighth frame as the match concluded 5-4 to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Cons Club’s promotion aspirations took a huge dent due to their second defeat of the week.

They hosted Seaton Royal Oak, who sealed the last two frames to win 5-4.

The Railwaý maintained fifth place after coming from 2-0 down to secure a 6-3 win.

In the A league, the performance of the week went to Harrington Legion who’s captain Phil Grisdale led them to a 9-0 victory away to Station Rd D.

The win all but secured the Legion’s A league status for next season while Station Road’s defeat meant Senhouse Street leaped into second place thanks to a 6-3 victory over Packhorse A.

The Grapes chances of claiming a top four place were given a boost as they defeated current fourth placed Vets.

The Grapes flew out of the blocks to lead 3-0 and it was Tony Elliot and Alan Cavanagh who clinched the first doubles to win 6-3.

Station Road C seem resigned to relegation as Shane Evitts started a dominating performance for JJ’s B who ran out 6-3 victors.

Dean Adams ensured JJ’s A’s A league status for next season as his two frame evening wins helped overcome Station Rd B 6-3.
