Cleator Moor Celtic played their first pre-season friendly on Thursday night when they lost 1-0 at Curwen Park against Northside.
It was a useful workout for both teams, particularly Celtic who included a good number of young players who are expected to be challenging for starting places in the West Lancashire League side this coming season.
Celtic are back in action this afternoon when they travel up to the Sheepmount for a game against a Carlisle United youth side.
The Celtic manager Gareth Agnew is a former coach at Carlisle, working under Mark Birch and alongside Danny Grainger.
Furthers friendlies are to follow against Whitehaven Miners and Workington Juniors before the season starts in early August.
They are still awaiting the Premier Division fixtures but they are expected any day now.
