Encouraged by their performance in defeat last week, Egremont can make important progress up the NCL Premier Division table.
The Gillfoot side host Leigh Miners Rangers, one of the three teams currently below them in the table.
They go into the contest on the back of a 26-14 defeat at neighbours Wath Brow Hornets, who are one of the favourites for the Premier Division title.
It was the spirited way in which they competed after losing Pat Wells to a red card on 23 minutes which will encourage the Mont to believe they can record a third win of the season.
Interestingly the two sides immediately above them in the table, on the same points, meet – Rochdale Mayfield v Thornhill Trojans.
The visitors to Gillfoot, Leigh Miners Rangers have won only once in six matches so far, but coincidentally have the same points differential – minus 98.
That win against their local neighbours put Wath Brow back on top of the table but it was the only game on Easter Saturday so they and Egremont have played one more game than the rest.
They travel to St Helens to take on Pilkington Recs who have started the season slowly with just the one win and are sitting third from bottom.
Hornets, who lead West Hull by points differential, will expect to collect both points against their struggling hosts but as usual coach Ian Rooney will be warning against complacency.
There’s a good game in prospect in Division One when second-in-the-table Kells host Stanningley who are fourth.
In fact those two are among five teams on eight points, just one point behind the leaders Oulton Raiders, who lost earlier in the month at Kells.
There is a lot of incentive for Kells as they have a game in hand over Oulton, as also do Skirlaugh another of the teams on eight points.
It’s similar picture in Division Two where Barrow Island are one of five teams on eight points, but they all trail Crosfields by two points.
The Islanders will be looking to maintain their progress with a home fixture against Wigan St Judeas who are third from bottom with two wins from six games.
In Division Three, Seaton Rangers have made a solid start to life in the National Conference but will have one of their tougher tests away to Batley Boys.
Hensingham will travel to Leigh East while Millom are on the road to Shaw Cross Sharks.
