A teenager has been arrested after he crashed into a Quaker burial ground.

Police were contacted at 6.22pm on May 6 after a white Chevrolet Aveo crashed into the gates of the Quaker burial ground at the bottom of the Old Sedbergh Road, Kendal.

The occupants of the car were seen fleeing through the burial ground.

This car was reported stolen from an address in Kendal and, between May 4 and May 6, it is believed this car had been travelling between Kendal and Windermere.

Following the crash, a 16-year-old male from the Kendal area was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Driving without a license
  • Driving without insurance
  • Burglary

He has since been released under investigation.

If anyone has any information relating to the identity of the occupants of the car then contact DC 1783 West.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit, quoting incident number 207 of May 6. You can also call 101.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
