Wath Brow Hornets powered to an impressive 48-0 win over their local rivals Egremont Rangers at Gillfoot.
Rangers were competitive in the first-half, and in the game, although trailing 18-0 at the break but were just blown away in the second-half.
Following a gritty performance with just 12 men for an hour in their meeting at Wath Brow, the Rangers were optimistic about their chances of revenge.
The Hornets hadn’t been in the best of form recently, while Egremont were desperate for a win to improve their lowly NCL Premier Division position.
But it didn’t work out like that as Wath Brow held the best that Egremont could offer in the first-half and completely dominated the second period.
The defeats – the eighth in a row for the Rangers – leaves them still second bottom but in danger of being cut adrift with York Acorn.
The Brow scored eight tries, all of them converted by Cole Walker-Taylor and three of them were scored in a more even first-half.
Nathan Lucock (2) and Dean Rooney scored first-half tries for the Brow who had gone into the game without three key forwards.
Full-back Fraser McNee was outstanding in a losing cause for Egremont who were simply swept aside in the second half to become a well-beaten side in the end.
Rooney scored his second try; Owen McCartney both went in and man of the match Ellison Holgate added to Egremont’s woes before a final flurry saw further tries from Walker-Taylor and Jamie Devine.
