A Cumbrian housing firm has paid tribute to one of its workers by naming a street after him.

Mike Pollard died in November 2019. Mr Pollard managed the Edgehill Park estate for Story Homes in Whitehaven.

Members of his family gathered at the estate to unveil Pollard Way, named in memory of Mr Pollard, the senior site manager.

Hayley Blair, sales and group marketing director at Story Homes, said: “Mike’s passing was a very sad and difficult time for employees at Story Homes, he was a fantastic member of the team who is hugely missed.

“Mike’s wife, Susan, worked for the business as a sales manager, and her daughter, Lyndsey, also worked for Story as a sales executive; it really was a family affair and we wanted to do something to commemorate Mike and leave a lasting memory at the development where he was based for many years.”

Susan said: “We are so overwhelmed by this gesture, we knew how valued Mike was, but to have a street named after him is extremely thoughtful; he will never be forgotten, and now he has a lasting legacy on the site that he was so passionate about.”
