Despite heavy rain earlier in the day Workington and Whitehaven completed their T20 clash in the West section.
Workington, beaten in last year’s final by Furness, scored their second victory having beaten Egremont in the opener,
They had been unsurprisingly put into bat by the visitors and quickly lost Kristian Moffat in the first over.
Through steady contributions from Adam Chambers (25) and professional Lahiru Dilshan (24) Workington built a final total of 110-9.
Four Whitehaven bowlers took two wickets each with Josh Foster (2-10) and Jonathan Stewart (2-19) returning the best figures.
At 21-6 Whitehaven were hardly in a position to challenge the home total although Leo Sanczuk’s unbeaten 23 did salvage them from a complete route.
He and Jack McNicholas (11) put on 40 for the seventh wicket, and helped by 23 extras (15 of them wides) Whitehaven did reach 77-9 at the completion of their 20 overs.
Ben Scott (4-11) and David Pearce (3-7) were the most successful Workington bowlers.
