Hunter’s Flame ran well in midweek to take the senior trail at Potter’s Park after ticketing over the course at the Dog Produce meeting.
Sunday’s meeting at Wardhall gave Caroline Graham’s charge the opportunity to follow up and she did, finishing a length clear of nearest rival Denise Bland’s Jenny’s Quest with Roy Laidler’s Kirkhead Rebel finishing a respectable third.
Hunter’s Flame had been sent off by the bookies at 2-1 without three but was good enough to do it herself on the day.
There was an 8-1 surprise when the Irving family – Tony, Marlene, Connor and Carter – were successful with their 8/1 shot Rex the Rocket in the puppy trail.
Nineteen went to the slip and three of the fancied entries – Ned;s Gain, Huntsman’s Rebel and Silver Streak failed to ticket. The Seaton hound won convincingly in the end from Joanne and Molly Burrows’ Thorn Lightning.
In the open maiden trail there were 25 entries and it provided a one-two for the Napier’s Foxparke kennel.
Sent-off 3/1 without three Foxparke Mo Farren just pipped kennel-mate Foxparke LOL with Silver Dancer a close third.
The meeting concluded with the open restricted trail which had 26 hounds competing and Stephen Riley’s Cautious, sent off 4/1 without three, just hung on to win from Ian Donaldson’s Huntsman’s Quartz.
The next HTA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22 and it’s back at Wardhall.
