Seaton Rangers have landed a signing coup for the rest of the National Conference League season.
Forward Brett Phillips, who spent his amateur career with Seaton is returning to the club.
The 33-year-old Phillips turned professional with Workington Town in September, 2011 and went on to play 145 games for the Derwent Park club, scoring 37 tries.
He left Town after the 2017 season and then made a surprise return with neighbours Whitehaven two years later, along with younger brother Callum.
Injuries and work commitments reduced his appearances to 14 for the Recreation Ground club, in which he scored three tries.
As an amateur, Phillips played for the Community Lions, the under-18 GB Lions, BARLA’s under-21s and GB open age sides.
He was eligible to play for Scotland through his grandfather, and was selected in their squad for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and then the 2014 European Cup competition, winning seven caps in total.
Club chairman Peter Gilmour said: “We are obviously delighted that Brett has returned to his amateur roots at Seaton.
“Equally at home in the second row or at loose forward Brett is a huge boost to the team for the season’s run-in ahead with his high impact defence and line-bursting attack runs.”
Seaton, pushing for promotion in their first season of National Three Conference rugby league have a tasty Cumbrian derby at home to Millom this afternoon.
