Keswick’s batsmen enjoyed a run feast at Millom to stay in pursuit of the Cumbria League’s top two sides.
The Lakesiders hammered 302-3 at Millom with two centurions – and the Premier Division’s top run-scorer didn’t even bat!
Risith Upamal had scored 616 runs before Saturday but he never got to the middle as Ben Sharp (107no) and Stephen Hindmarch (103) took centre stage.
They put on 188 for the second wicket after Will Atkinson had gone for 33. Paul Hindmarch also chipped in with 36.
It was a formidable total for Millom to challenge and they were rocked by losing half their side for just 15.
That they got to 76 all out was largely due to a run-a-ball 37 from Michael Holmes.
Scott McGown was the destroyer-in-chief as he took 5-17 from his seven overs.
Carlisle and Cockermouth, however, continue to set the pace at the top with the city side registering their 11th successive victory.
Put in to bat Carlisle were led by Tom Benn on this occasion as he top-scored with 78 from an all-out total of 216.
Dalton’s West Indian amateur Omari Goodridge took 5-46.
Dalton never seriously challenged the Carlisle score and were eventually bowled out for 69 in the 33rd over.
Nico Watt took three wickets for Carlisle with the rest shared around.
Cockermouth had to work hard to get their game on at home to Egremont, actually having to cut another wicket and they didn’t get under way until 4.10pm.
As a consequence the game was reduced to 24 overs a side and the home side squeezed in a vital win by nine wickets.
Put in to bat Egremont lost their first three wickets for just one run.
Important middle order contributions from Alex Hodgson (27), Mark Ponticelli (24) and Owen Thompson (24) eventually got them to 92-9.
Sam Sharp did most of the damage taking 5-14 from his five overs.
Although they lost Alex Grainger for only 11, Cockermouth were carried to a routine victory by Gareth White (50no) and skipper Matthew Sempill (26no), reaching their target with 8.5 overs to spare.
Egremont remain rooted to the foot of the table, but Whitehaven their Copeland neighbours just above them, also lost comprehensively.
They went down by 180 runs at home to Furness after they had elected to field first.
Furness rattled-up 276-6 in their 50 overs with in-form Nathan Waterston continuing his good run of form with 89, which included 12 fours.
There was also solid support from Sam Dutton (47), Lewis Gribbin (32), Garry Thompson (30no) and Liam Curwen (23no).
Furness have been waiting until now for their contracted professional ton arrive and Saad Khan actually made his debut in this one.
He scored 16 (including three boundaries) and then took 1-10 from six overs as Whitehaven were bowled-out for 95 in the 40th over.
Curwen was the most successful Furness bowler with 4-20 from ten overs. Andrew Cameron had bowled well for Whitehaven taking 5-30 from his ten overs.
Workington had been beaten by Wigton in a low-scoring game at the Valentine Ground, so were pleased to take the spoils from the return at Lowmoor Road.
Put in to bat Workington were bowled-out for 153 in the last over.
Kristian Moffat (39), David Pearce (36) and a late flourish from Ben Scott (21) were the major contributors. John Reed took 3-32 for Wigton.
The home side were reeling at 17-5 – a score-line familiar to the Workington players who had Cockermouth 17-6 the previous week – but lost the game.
This time they did profit from the good start, but not before home pro Chris Hodgson had threatened to pull Wigton right back into the contest.
He made a patient 51, trying to anchor the reply and a sixth wicket stand of 74 with George Spark (28) gave them some hope.
But at 104-9, and 50 still needed, the game had swung firmly back towards the visitors.
Matthew Hodgson (18) and Glen Liddle (10no) put on 28 for the last wicket before Workington skipper Matthew Lowden completed the win for his side.
He had Hodgson caught by Sam Holt and Wigton were bowled out for 132 with 10 balls left.
Lowden finished with 3-15 from 8.2 overs while teenager Regan Jackson had 4-28 from his 10 overs.
Haverigg eased their worries with a seven-wicket home win over Cleator.
Kevin Rogan (5-20) and Glenn Chesher (3-29) combined to bowl-out Cleator for 109.
Skipper James Rogers (18) was the top scorer as they were dismissed in 43.3 overs.
Drew Postlethwaite (32), Sachin Jayawardena (27no) and Joe Harvey (22no) got Haverigg to their target in 24.3 overs.
