A bid to build nine homes in a West Cumbrian village has been submitted to Allerdale council.
The outline application, for land next to Birkby Lodge, Crosby, has been lodged by Mr and Mrs Perkins.
More details about the development will be revealed in a follow-up reserved matters application if approval is given for homes at the site in principle.
PFK Planning & Development is the agent for the plans.
A bid to build a development of the same size on the land has previously been approved but the planning permission lapsed due to difficulty finding a developer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
PFK said the new homes would be well-contained by existing natural landscape features and will be viewed within the context of the existing buildings.
Supporting statements submitted with the application said: “Whilst the design of the dwellings is a reserved matter, we will ensure that the development is of an appropriate scale, mass, design and form to the surrounding residential properties and the character of the village. A new vehicular access to the site will be created from the A596.”
PFK said that a supply of small-scale housing development was appropriate for Crosby. It added: “The principle of residential development within the settlement of Crosby is supported by local and national planning policy. The proposed development will not result in any adverse impacts that would significantly or demonstrably outweigh the benefits of the scheme.”
