Winning performance from David Gleave

David Gleave turned in a winning performance at the Cockermouth eight-mile time trial organised by Velo Club Cumbria.

Gleave covered the short but hilly eight-mile course east of Cockermouth in 21 minutes and 10 seconds at an average speed of 22.68mph.

He narrowly edged Liam Martin into second place by 11 seconds with Richard Shield third in a time of 21:53.

The fastest junior rider was Tom Percival with an impressive time of 28:24, 38 seconds ahead of Rosie Horton.

The next VCC club time trial is the scenic Bassenthwaite Lake Circuit on Tuesday July 19. Sign on is from 6pm at the Pheasant Inn junction at Dubwath.
