Members of Brampton and Longtown Rotary club have raised more than £3,500 for good causes in recent months.
James Porter has handed the club’s leadership to Ian Forth earlier this month and members looked back on the projects they have supported.
Funds have been given to the Heathlands Activity Projects taking place in Brampton and Penrith; The Great North Air Ambulance to buy a Flight Suit; BEEP Doctors to contribute to a suction unit; Carlisle Key to provide start-up kits for homeless young people and William Howard School to support its Eco Schools Green status.
Deborah Earl, of Carlisle Key, said: “A project we always need funds for is our welcome packs for our supported residents who have presented as homeless, we have 11 units of supported accommodation. They get a microwave, kettle, toaster pots and pans etc which they can use in their rooms and take with them when they move so this donation to help with those is much appreciated.”
Theo Weston, BEEP Doctors chairman, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Brampton & Longtown Rotary Club for their donation to the BEEP Doctors. The money will be used toward purchasing a new suction unit. This device is crucial when we are managing somebody’s airway such as when we are performing a pre-hospital anaesthetic or if somebody is very poorly. This piece of new equipment will go a long way in helping us save more lives across Cumbria.”
Club members have also renewed their commitment to the Carlisle Dementia Action Alliance and our Incredible Edible Project by allocating funds to both.
Club treasurer and membership officer Kevin Walsh said: “Members would like to thank everyone who has donated to our various fundraising activities in the past year. It’s these donations that allow us to support such a wide range of good causes.”
