Barrow have suffered a pre-season blow with confirmation that striker Richie Bennett is set for up to 10 weeks on the sidelines.
Bennett was injured in the mid-week loss to Fleetwood and it has been revealed to be worse than initially feared.
Manager Pete Wild will now look to bring in a new face, but insists he won’t be rushed into finding a replacement.
“It will have to be the right type of player for us. People might say we need another big centre-forward but I won’t bring anyone in. It has to be the right type, whether he’s big or not, and I have to be happy he is right for our squad,” he said.
Barrow lost the game, going down to another late goal, a similar strike to the one they conceded against Fleetwood.
Wild said: “Generally, though, I was happy with how solid we were throughout the game. We have things to work on before the opening game but on the whole it has been an encouraging pre-season build-up.
“I think we are 75 per cent there so we have still work to be done. We have to take our chances because I thought we created four or five good ones in the first half and didn’t take them.
“I’m generally enthusiastic about how we are shaping-up and will be working hard during the week to improve the areas where I think we need to.”
