Workington and District Sunday League gears up for new season

Workington and District Sunday League is gearing up for the opening day of the new season on September 4.

Fixtures for the first two weeks of the season have been issued by the League who will have 13 teams, split seven and six into a Premier Division and First Division.

The club derby kicks off the season in Aspatria with Sun Inn taking on pub rivals Sun Inn Athletic while Premier Division champions Northside start their bid for a repeat Quadruple at home to Blue Bell.

League newcomers Rangers AFC also start with a derby against their club rivals, Seaton Rangers who were formerly Junction FC.

Matches for September 4 are: Premier Division – Sun Inn v Sun Inn Athletic; Northside v Blue Bell; Deer Orchard v Dearham. Spare team: Salterbeck. Division One: Rangers v Seaton Rangers; Senhouse v Maryport Athletic; Flimby Social v Highfield.

September 11: Premier Division – Sun Inn Athletic v Deer Orchard; Salterbeck v Blue Bell; Dearham v Northside. Spare team: Sun Inn. Division One: Highfield v Maryport Athletic; Senhouse v Seaton Rangers; Rangers v Flimby Social.
