Mossley have confirmed the signing of centre-forward Oumar Camara, 24, after a successful trial spell at the club.
The Lillywhites will open the 2022/23 season against Workington at Borough Park on Saturday, August 13.
New recruit Camara has played a prominent role in Mossley’s pre-season fixtures, scoring four goals including one against Northern Premier League side Hyde United.
He most recently featured for North West Counties Premier Division side Prestwich Heys.
The centre forward, who began his career at Curzon Ashton, teams up again with Mossley boss David Fish, with the pair first working together at Chadderton.
Camara has also featured for Avro FC, claiming the player of the month for December 2021 after he scored seven goals in six appearances.
Speaking to the club’s website, ahead of him putting pen to paper, Camara said: “I’m delighted to be joining Mossley. From my short time here so far, I can tell it’s a great club and the fans have been brilliant through pre-season.
“I’m excited to get started this season and hopefully score some goals in the Northern Premier League and help the team push on this year.”
Manager Fish has been particularly active recently adding former Mossley player Will Shepherd and Josh Dickin to his growing squad.
Shepherd is comfortable at right back or in midfield and featured nine times for the Lilywhites last season scoring one goal in the process before moving to fellow NPL West side Colne.
The youngster spent eight years at the Rochdale AFC academy, before signing scholarship forms for Salford City, where he captained the youth team to the Alliance League Championship.
He went on to sign professional terms at the Peninsula Stadium, making his senior debut in September 2019 against Manchester United before injuries and the pandemic led to him dropping into non-league football with Warrington Town.
Like Camara, he has featured as a trialist throughout the pre-season schedule and has impressed manager David Fish in recent games.
On re-signing for the Lilywhites, he said: “I’m happy to be back at Mossley and I’m looking forward to the opening fixture of the season.
“I’m hoping to have a positive impact on the squad and bring some quality and energy to the team. I’ve enjoyed pre season training and games and feel ready for the season.”
Defender Dickin joins having spent last season at Prestwich Heys where he was named 2021-22 Young Player of The Season.
The Hyde-based defender is 21 and, like Shepherd, spent eight years at the Rochdale academy before joining Curzon Ashton where he was part of their quadruple-winning youth side.
His sister, Meg Dickin, plays for the Mossley Women’s team.
Mossley were up there at the top with Workington just before Christmas but fell away and weren’t even involved in the play-offs, finishing in eighth place – 17 points off the play-offs and 27 behind the Reds.
