
Workington’s Festival of Running will return to the town this weekend.
People can take part in a 1k fun run, 5k or 10k run at the event on Sunday, organised by the town council and Cumberland Athletic Club.
It will be the first time in two years it has been held following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Runners of all abilities are invited to sign up for their chosen race by visiting the Visit Workington website.
Registration will also take place on the day and opens at Workington Leisure Centre from 11am, with races starting at noon. Entries on the day will not be taken after 12.15pm. Races will start at the leisure centre.
The 1k fun run starts at noon, is free to enter. Fancy dress is optional, but there will be a prize for the best costume.

The 5k run begins at 12.30pm and the 10k at 1.30pm. The 5k run costs £6 to enter (£4 for UKA affiliated runners). The 10k run costs £10 to enter (£8 for UKA affiliated runners). Both have a limit of 150 runners.
There will be lots to do for those cheering on family and friends with a refreshment stalls and children’s entertainment and face painting available from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
A compere will be present to ensure everyone knows where they are going and how to get to the start line on time.
Cumberland Athletic Club members will also be on hand throughout the day to give guidance and advice.
