Dan Bewley produced an outstanding performance to win the British Grand Prix in Cardiff.
Making his first final the Maryport racer produced the performance of his life to beat an experienced field and became the first British champion in Cardiff since 2007.
He was the sixth different winner in this year’s Grand Prix series and the next event is on his home Polish track.
Bewley had been in great form during practice on Friday, second fastest, and he carried that into the Grand Prix itself with three heat wins (all comfortable) a second and a third.
He had suffered semi-final agony in the previous two Grand Prix events, but made no mistake this time following home Patryk Dudek.
Dudek, Fredrik Lindgren and Jason Doyle were in the semi-final with the West Cumbrian but at the start, Doyle was excluded after touching the tapes.
Just three went and going from the inside gate Bewley was beaten by Dudek, but good enough to reach his first final.
In the final he was up against Dudek, Bartosz Zmarzlik and Leon Madsen and went from gate two after having third pick.
Bewley responded superbly, flying out of the gate and never had an anxious moment as he roared home a comfortable winner.

The first British winner in Cardiff in 15 years Bewley picked up 20 championship points to move him onto 64 which puts him comfortably in the top six in the standings.
And all this as a rider who was brought into the Grand Prix series as a substitute for the suspended Russians.
