West Cumbrian fanciers won’t get a race this week following the weekend cancellation.
The Amalgamation had planned to race from Appleton with the Derwent Valley and West Cumberland Federation liberating together for the first time.
But with the weather so hot it was decided to postpone and look for a mid-week liberation.
But today the Amalgamation announced that there would be no race but would try again from Appleton on Saturday.
The statement said: “In the opinion of the race controller and club president/chairman Wednesday is still not good enough to race pigeons, so this week’s race is now cancelled, we will now race mark this Friday for Appleton on Saturday weather permitting.”
In addition it has been announced that the Cleator Moor A ring race, organised for the last race of the season, will have to change race-points.
Originally booked for Weymouth the race has now been moved to Yeovil, which is about 25 miles less in flying distance to West Cumbria.
The race is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 17.
