Carlisle City have appealed against the red card shown to central defender Dan Kirkup on Saturday.
City actually played the last 10 minutes with nine men as they had Ryan Swailes sent off five minutes before Kirkup.
City won the game 2-0 to go fourth in the Northern League First Division but manager Jim Nichols wasn’t happy about the second sending off.
“I’ve watched the video a million times it seems and I still can’t see anything wrong in his challenge. There’s no elbow at all.
“Actually the referee apologised to Dan and me after the game admitting he’d made a mistake. I will be very disappointed if we lose the appeal after submitting our video evidence but I know how these appeals work. They do try and support referees,” said Nichols.
City beat Seaham Red Star 2-0 with first-half goals from Jordan Atkinson and Red Star defender Jordan Pattinson who put one past his own keeper.
Nichols said: “It was a comfortable win and was another good performance. We have had the start we were looking for.
“We gave a controlled performance, scored at the right time and limited them to one good shooting opportunity.
“Finishing the game with nine men could have made it awkward but we saw it out really well.”
City are back at Gillford Park again tomorrow night when they entertain Northallerton.
Nichols will welcome back Josh Simpson, Tyler Bowman and Aaron Bradbury to the squad and which will provide headaches for his team selection.
