Kendal Town were 2-0 down inside 10 minutes at Irlam Town but came back well and eventually won 4-3.
Those goals came in the 6th and 10th minute to rock Kendal back on their heels but they thought they’d pulled one back five minutes later only for Irlam keeper Josh Pilling.
They didn’t have long to wait for two minutes later Mambwe Chilufya got on the end of a Wraigthe cross and Pilling couldn’t hold on. Tom Kilifin was there not knock home the loose ball.
It was certainly end to end stuff because then Irlam had a chance through Saul Henderson but Ryan Hogarth was out quick to make the block.
But on 23 minutes Irlam did restore their two goal advantage when they were awarded a penalty and Henderson drove it home.
Kendal got immediately back into the contest when Pilling wanted too long on the ball and was dispossessed by Kilifin who provided Steve Yawson with an easy finish.
Kendal really pushed for the equaliser and after Rob Wilson had seen a free kick well sabed by Pilling they drew level. It was Kilifin who was there to score with a diving header from another Wraigthe cross.
There was even time for Jamie Pattinson to have the ball in the net for Kendal only to be flagged offside.
But it was Pattinson who won it for Kendal on the 68th minute when he bundled home a Wraigthe cross.
Kilifin went close to completing a hat-trick but was denied by Pilling and then substitute Dylan Mobbs should have made the game safe on 88 minutes but put his shot straight at the keeper from a few yards.
The Mintcakes will travel to Ashton Athletic on Tuesday but Saturday’s game at Northwich Viictoria has been switched to Parkside Road.
